YOU SUCK!

Whew!  You know things are bad when a former Fed chairman breaks ranks and speaks out about the current Federal Reserve Braintrust.

Okay, maybe he didn’t say that exactly…but he came pretty damned close: Not only does he think they’re doing a really crappy job, but he also thinks that they’re doing the WRONG JOB! "It is defending the economy and the market, instead of defending the dollar."

And just to stick the knife in, Mr. Volcker added that this bad job now will make the real job - defending the greenback - much harder later. It'll cause even greater economic suffering.

Dover’s Bottom Line? I think former chairman Volker is right on point…and I also think we’re all screwed. Read the entire story here, and read the entire transcript of Mr. Volker’s speech here.

What’s worse than getting hammered with phone calls from debt collectors? apu_now_makes_threatening_phone_calls.jpgHow about being harassed by a buncha debt collectors with curry on their breath! The Queen’s English never sounded so bad!

Time to put down that cricket bat and read what's heading to depressed debtor's phones from coast-to-coast!

More customer (non) customer service un-friendly news from the world of irritating English! According to a recent press release, Dell is aiming to delight you with a new premium customer what_do_you_mean_you_dont_understand.jpgservice offering—for a price.

Would you like to contact the same "dedicated" team of customer service reps every time you call?

Would you like those reps to be "empowered to address a comprehensive range of issues?"

Would you like those reps to be "based in North America?" All this can be yours, if you're willing to pay extra for it.  It's not a computer, it's a Bombay-flavoured Dell!  Read all about it...

Whatchu talkin’ about Willis Shannon? The honeymoon is over for Gary Coleman and his new bride: The 40-year-old actor and his 22-year-old wife, Shannon Price, are set to appear on TV's "Divorce Court" on May 1 and 2.

midgets_in_love.jpgThe couple wed in August after meeting on the set of the 2006 comedy "Church Ball." Among the problems the pair discusses with Judge Lynn Toler are:
  • Coleman's anger and intimacy issues
  • The fact that she's tired of him kissing her kneecaps since she's 3 feet taller than he is, and...
  • Coleman and Price agree they have "ugly" monthly fights. mainly because she intentionally puts the TV remote control on top of the refrigerator to toy with him.
  • (Okay, maybe I made those last two things up.) Read about Gary's unfortunate airing of his dirty laundry coming up later this week...

Part IFrom the “what’s old is new again department” it’s one of our favorite techno-challenges: Since alotta you are doh.jpgeither: 1) Too young to remember this has happened before or 2) Tried to block it from your memory, here’s a ‘new’ problem from the world of gas pump pricing.

When this happened in the 70s, all they did was set ‘half gallon’ pricing that doubled-up when you paid. Of course that was before the world of ‘Self Service’ took over.

Read all about the problem facing diesel fuel buyers…(and don’t forget to cuss OPEC along the way).

Part II—From the “what’s old is new again department”:  Home prices are back to the same level as when the Bush its_the_economy_stupid.jpgAdministration was reigning supreme—as in Bush #41 in 1988…d’oh!

“Sales of New Single-Family Homes at 16-Year Low” In another worrisome sign for the battered housing industry, sales of new single-family houses plunged in March to a 16 1/2 year low while inventory grew and prices dropped, according to a new government report.

Nice work, Dubya:  Read the rest of the story here...

Part III—As long as we’re on a roll when it comes to bad news: Oil could top $200 per barrel within five years, according to the bank that called $100 per barrel last year… gas_lines_are_coming_back.jpg

Time to find the bus schedule, and read the rest of the story here...

Part IV—From the Who Wouldja Rather Believe Department comes this headline: “Lehman warns that oil boom will deflate.” The roaring oil boom of the last few months may be on its last legs as economic growth slows hard across the world and a clutch new refineries come into operation, Lehman Brothers has warned in a hard-hitting report.

Of course, if they’re wrong what are they gonna say? Oops?   Read the rest of a story we all hope comes true, here...

"Mentally Disabled Man Who Took Lampshade 'Lie Detector' Seeks $2 million Settlement" I know it sounds like a bit from “The Howard Sdont_call_me_corky.jpgtern Show” but it’s not. We really can’t make this stuff up, folks:

“A mentally disabled man who was given a fake lie detector test is still waiting for a settlement after six years. Pearl (Mississippi) police admitted that officers put a lampshade on Huey Granger's head in June 2002. Granger had filed a police report claiming that his daughter was attacked by her boyfriend in their Pearl home. While at the police station, officers Keith Peterson and Jeff Thames gave him a "fake lie detector test."

Incredible...read the rest of the story here.

Taking a vacation anytime soon? Here’s a HUGE reason you might wanna consider ‘trip insurance’: "Family Says Cruise Ship Kicked Them Off Boat Because Child Was Sick"

love_boat.jpgRoyal Caribbean Cruise Line kicked a family of five who boarded in Miami off the ‘Majesty of the Seas’ cruise ship late at night a couple of days later and abandoned them in the Bahamas when their 7-month-old child became sick.

"Everyone was crying and pleading that they wouldn't throw us of the boat, begging them if we could stay," Luis Cortes said. Their 7-month-old child, Zoie, was throwing up and had diarrhea. A doctor on the ship said she was dehydrated and had to be treated in a hospital. The family said a security guard gave them 10 minutes to pack their bags and get off the boat. It was 11 o'clock at night.

Betcha Captain Steubing would’ve never done this: Read the entire story here!
